A visit to Ramoji Film City

Hawa mahal
I had a wonderful trip to Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.  I had to meet an old friend of mine after a lapse of 5 years.  She had come on leave from Malaysia and she requested me to spend a holiday with her.
We booked a one-day tour and they took us to Ramoji Film City, which is said to be the world's largest Film Studio Complex.  After a thorough security checking we were allowed inside.  We are not allowed to take food inside.  Many restaurants are also there.  Inside there are many tour buses red in color, which take the visitors to different localities.

For Children

Railway Station setting

It is pretty expensive, but it is worth the amount. You can really have unlimited fun for all age groups, and see a city with all the film settings. For shopping also there is no shortage.

You can find model railway station there, a air plane with usual size, Hawa mahal, Taj Mahal, caves, zoo, gardens like Japanese garden, Charisma garden, Umbrella Garden, Leg Garden, Family garden, Sanctuary garden,  water falls, Hollywood setting, Eureka, Jug fountain, and various statues are some of them.

There are many rides such as Bumping car, Ranger, Break dance, Twister, Super Jet, Thrill ride etc. and also some Shows such as Stunt show, Spirit of Ramoji. You can learn the movie making secrets at Ramoji Film Magic, such as how the scenes are made, how the sounds are added, and how the stunt scenes are made etc.

On the whole it is a must visit place to enjoy a wonderful day. One day is not sufficient to see everything there, but at least making a day's trip is worth the amount you pay. The place is well maintained, and also with toilet facilities in many places.

Winter is the best time to visit Hyderabad, especially Ramoji Film City.

My trip to Nagamangalam, Tamil Nadu

Recently I had an opportunity to visit Lourdes Matha church (Our Lady of Lourdes) at Nagamangalam in Tamil Nadu. Nagamangalam is a Village in Kelamangalam Taluk in Krishnagiri District of Tamil Nadu State. One of my friends wanted to visit there and asked me whether I can accompany her. I took it as a God given opportunity and agreed to accompany her. I immediately googled to collect more details about the place, but initially I didn't find much information. I hope this blog may be of help to those who wish to travel there. The Church is located in the beautiful J.G. Farm at St.Mary's Nagar. From the gate of the Farm it takes 1.5 kms to reach there.
Canteen We reached there at about 8.30 a.m. on a Saturday, without knowing the working time. After spending some time there we were about to return and by then people started coming in. So please check the timing of the Church before your visit at The history of the church - copied from…

Happy Vishu 2016

Happy Vishu to all my friends. Vishu is an important festival of Kerala State (India) and it is celebrated as the New Year of the State, and even considered as an auspicious day. This regional New Year is celebrated in many other states of India too, but with different names. The year 2016 Vishu is a bit different to me. I am celebrating my Vishu with my daughter and family at London. My little grandson (6 plus) is highly enthralled to see the Vishukkani, early in the morning. He unusually was up from his bed earlier than his usual time and began to call me out. He wanted me to bring him with his eyes closed, to see the Vishukkani. After seeing the Vishukkani, I gave him vishukkaineetam and he was even more thrilled. He was eager to go and talk about it with his friends in the school. Though his mother used to keep Vishukkani every year, this year it was altogether a different experience to him. More about Vishu can be read here and here.

A visit to Panchavadi Ayurveda Kendra

It was a bright and pleasant morning. Our neighbour invited us to join her during her visit to Panchavadi Ayurveda Kendra. Needless to say I was excited to join her.

Panchavadi is an Ayurveda Kendra located at Marasur Gate, on Chandapura-Anekal Road in Bangalore.   I was amazed to find so many medicinal plants grown in the 2 1/2 acres of land which are used in Ayurveda treatment.  Presently Chandapura-Anekal Road is a fast growing area with so many new villas and flats  mushrooming up every day. In such a situation, it is amazing to see a pristine place which is still preserved, untouched by tourists.

They also have a Yoga Centre in the property where regular yoga classes are held. Complete silence is maintained there. Inside the Yoga centre, there is also a small Library with Kannada and English books pertaining to spirituality.

They are also growing some ducks there. It will be a great entertainment for the kids.

As you enter the gate the first thing you will see is a small temple…
